Welcome to North Island Secondary School’s web page. NISS was built in 1967: prior to this date secondary education was available at the “old” Port McNeill Elementary-Junior Secondary School. NISS is proud to be a regional secondary school. Students from Port Alice, Woss, Nimpkish Heights and Hyde Creek commute daily by school bus. Students from Alert Bay and Sointula travel by ferry. Over the years, NISS students have excelled in many fields—academic, artistic, technical, athletics, etc.
